Friends of Israeli Culture is an initiative to promote liberal culture in Israel
through the development and distribution of original Israeli works in film and theatre-
works that spark social and political dialogue, and encourage critical thinking and open discussion within Israeli society.

OUR GOALS

To encourage and cultivate liberal discourse, tolerance and coexistence through original film and theatre productions that foster understanding, empathy and open dialogue, reaching diverse audiences in Israel.

To create an independent platform that supports the development and production of original Israeli works,
opening new opportunities for funding, artistic growth, and collaboration.

To strengthen the presence of liberal Israeli art in the public sphere by supporting creators and cultural partners in promoting their work and connecting with broader audiences.

KEY AREAS

Development
Providing development grants for creators in film and theatre,
and fostering collaborations with leading cultural institutions to produce and present original works to audiences.

Distribution
Guiding and mentoring artists in marketing, communications and audience engagement,
ensuring that their work reaches the widest possible impact both in Israel and internationally.

Educational Department

We collaborate with creators to develop educational materials and discussion guides accompanying their works,
enabling teachers and facilitators to use these creations as tools for dialogue, reflection and learning after the screening or performance.

We support and develop works that engage with values such as equality and democracy, freedom of expression and pluralism, coexistence, minority rights, and gender equality.

Friends of Israeli Culture is currently in its first chapter, developing a feature-length film project,
selected for the “Feature in the Negev” development lab of the Negev Film Fund.

The initial development budget of £20,000 is dedicated to advancing the project’s creative, development including script work, artistic research, and distribution planning.

The film is being developed by a team of emerging Israeli filmmakers:
Dana Abramovich (Screenwriter), Efrat Liphshitz (Director), and Keren Shefet (Producer).

The theme of the film reflects the initiative’s values of artistic freedom, diversity, and social engagement.

Following the success of this pilot, Friends of Israeli Culture will continue investing in the initiative’s growth, expanding fundraising efforts and supporting the development of new original works across Israel.
